Casa di Langa

  • Virtuoso
  • Best time: Sep to Nov for harvest and truffles
The hilltop village of Rodello in the Langhe under a storm sky.

Casa di Langa opened in June 2021 on a 42-hectare estate of vineyards and hills in the UNESCO-listed Langhe, between Barolo, Barbaresco and Alta Langa. Its owner, Kyle Krause, also owns the Vietti and Enrico Serafino wineries, and the hotel was built with sustainability at its core: local stone and FSC-certified timber, architecture by GaS Studio and interiors by Parisotto + Formenton, drawing on traditional Piedmontese buildings. Heating and cooling are geothermal, hot water comes from a biomass boiler, and solar panels supply around a fifth of the electricity, with the rest bought as certified green power. There are 14 charging points for electric cars, the rooms are free of plastic, all waste is recycled and total waste has fallen by 23 per cent. More than 90 per cent of the garden and orchard harvest goes straight to Fàula, the restaurant, which is listed in the MICHELIN Guide, and the greenhouse supplies the Lelòse spa, which uses Comfort Zone, a B Corp brand. The hotel is Green Globe certified and won a 100 Sustainable Hotels Award in 2024. There is a cooking school and a Wine Academy, and the 39 rooms include eight suites.
