Azur Hotel & Spa sits behind a small door on San Jerónimo street in the historic centre of Córdoba, a few minutes from the Jesuit Block, where three historic universities line one of the finest displays of Latin American baroque. The building is a house of 1915 that served in turn as a pharmacy, a home and a school before its restoration. The lobby keeps exposed brick and a stone fireplace, and the 16 rooms, in several categories from Standard to the Azur Suite, are pared back in neutral shades with dark wood panelling; some have balconies, and the Azur Suite has its own jacuzzi and patio. The spa is underground and lit by candles, with a water circuit, massages and treatments made with organic, locally produced products. Upstairs there is a rooftop terrace with a plunge pool and an open-air restaurant, and La Despensa de AZUR cooks Córdoba dishes from organic, local produce. Casa de Mate tells the story of yerba mate and the plants of the province. The hotel also offers an all-inclusive programme planned around each guest.
