Victoria Falls River Lodge

  • Virtuoso
  • Best time: Year-round; a Green Season offer runs in the rains

Victoria Falls River Lodge stands on the Zimbabwean bank of the Zambezi, upstream of the Falls, and when it opened in 2012 it was the first private game lodge inside the Zambezi National Park. The spray of the Falls can be seen in the distance. It belongs to the Zambezi Crescent Collection and now has several kinds of stay: 12 River Lodge Tented Suites and eight Malachite Tented Suites, thatched and set along the river with private plunge pools, six Island Treehouse Suites on a private island, among them two with open-air sleep-out beds, and two private villas, one of them Hippo Creek Villa. The lodge is all-inclusive, with a restaurant, a lounge and bar, cocktails in the main lodge and in-room dining, and there is a pool, a gym and a spa; villa guests receive a 50-minute massage. Activities include guided tours of the Falls, river cruises at sunset, game drives and night drives, with walking, white-water rafting and bungee jumping on offer nearby, and raised walkways for watching the elephants and hippos that come down to the water. Victoria Falls Airport is about 17 kilometres away.
