Jaisalmer seen from a high viewpoint.

SUJÁN The Serai is a desert camp on 100 acres of private land and native desert scrub in the Thar, about 40 kilometres, or 40 minutes by road, from Jaisalmer. It holds One MICHELIN Key, and the MICHELIN inspector compares it with the luxury safari camps of southern Africa. There are 21 tents, in three kinds. The 14 Luxury Tents are pitched on bases of local Jaisalmer stone, each with an outdoor veranda, a seating area and an inner tented lounge. The six Luxury Tented Suites add a walled garden with a private heated plunge pool, and the Royal Tented Suite has its own heated plunge pool, a massage area and pergola tents for dining and lounging. The SUJÁN Spa sits in a walled garden at the camp, using organic Ayurvedic products, with yoga and meditation each day. Breakfast is made with produce picked from the camp's organic farm, and dinner can be laid out anywhere in the desert, lit by lanterns beside a campfire. In the late afternoon there are drives through the villages and camel rides over the dunes for a sundowner. The camp opens from September to March, and in the high season daily flights reach Jaisalmer Airport from Mumbai, Delhi and Jaipur.
