Maison Villeroy

  • Three Keys
  • Open year-round
The Seine and its bridges from high above Paris.

Maison Villeroy occupies a former private mansion at 33 rue Jean Goujon in the 8th arrondissement, close to the Champs-Élysées, and has become one of the most discreet addresses in Paris: a hotel of residential scale with the services of a palace. Period details survive throughout, and the salons are even more ornate and atmospheric than the bedrooms. There are only a handful of rooms and suites, the largest close to presidential in size, all with marble bathrooms, furniture by Promemoria and handmade Vispring mattresses, and a butler is on call at any hour. The table is the reason to come. At Trente-Trois, Sébastien Sanjou holds a MICHELIN star for subtle, seasonal cooking built on very fine produce, with careful technique and remarkable jus and sauces. The Bar Jean Goujon keeps its original gold-leaf mouldings and a considered list of Japanese whiskies, and a small wine bar completes the picture. The spa is reserved for one party at a time, with a sauna, steam room, Turkish bath and Jacuzzi, and a menu of massages, facials and NAD+ infusions. There are 11 rooms and suites, and the hotel holds Three MICHELIN Keys.

Insider tip Take a nightcap in the Bar Jean Goujon, under its original gold-leaf mouldings, and ask to work through the Japanese whisky list.

Why I choose it A MICHELIN-starred table in a private mansion of only 11 rooms, where dinner is the centre of the stay.
