Hôtel Le Doge

A great white mosque with a green roof beside the ocean in Casablanca.

Hôtel Le Doge is a private mansion turned small hotel in the Art Deco district of Casablanca, and a member of Relais & Châteaux. The house story has it that an Italian entrepreneur gave the house to the wife he met in Morocco, and the hotel sets out to take guests back to the glamour of the 1930s. Each of its 16 rooms and suites, from Standard and Executive Rooms to Junior Suites and Suites, is decorated after a different figure of the Art Deco years, from Coco Chanel to Ernest Hemingway, with every fabric, texture and colour chosen to suit that figure. There are two places to eat: Le Jasmine, for Moroccan cooking, and Le Doge Café, with Mediterranean dishes on the rooftop. A small spa offers massages to order, and the hotel also hosts meetings and private events. The house makes a quiet base for the Hassan II Mosque and Casablanca's Art Deco streets before the drive to Rabat and Meknès.
