Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi fills the top six floors of the 39-storey Otemachi One Tower in the financial district, looking over the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace; on a clear day the view reaches Mount Fuji. It is the newer and larger of the city's two Four Seasons hotels, with a more direct view of the palace than its sister at Marunouchi. The interiors are modern and restrained. The spa on the 39th floor, designed by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, draws on Japanese bathing traditions, with five treatment rooms, ofuro baths and a heated 20-metre indoor pool looking across the city. Food is the stronger draw. At est, chef Guillaume Bracaval cooks French food that expresses the Japanese landscape, having travelled the country to learn its ingredients, and sources around 95 per cent of his produce within Japan; the restaurant holds a one-MICHELIN-star rating. PIGNETO serves Sicilian and Tuscan dishes with an outdoor terrazza, VIRTÙ is an Art Deco cocktail bar, and The Lounge serves afternoon tea above the palace grounds. There are 190 rooms and suites.
