Journeys for an occasion

Some journeys are for a date: a birthday with a nought on the end, an anniversary, a question you mean to ask. This is where each one begins.

Small tables on a terrace at night, each lit by its own lamp.
A table set beneath a tree strung with lights at dusk.

Milestone birthdays and anniversaries

A date that carries weight, and a journey built around the moment that marks it.

An elephant crossing open plains under a low sun.

A family, across generations

Grandparents, parents and children in one journey, with room for each of them. The stays with space for everyone are under For Several Generations.

A long row of overwater villas on stilts above a blue lagoon.

A honeymoon

The first journey together, planned so that neither of you has to plan it.

A table laid for two under white drapes on a beach at dusk, lanterns around it.

A proposal

The question is yours. The setting, the hour and the quiet arrangements around it can be mine: the table, the view, and someone on hand to make sure nobody interrupts. Tell me where you are thinking of, and when, and it stays between us.

Where each occasion begins

The Milestone: Anniversaries, big birthdays, retirements, post-divorce, post-something. A specific date carries weight. The trip has to be capable of carrying it.

The Generations: Three generations, sometimes four. Children, parents, grandparents, occasionally an in-law or two. Different energies. Different mobility. Different ideas of what a holiday is for.

Honeymoons: A honeymoon carries a date, and the trip has to be capable of carrying it. Trips like this fail in a recognisable way: they feel like any other trip. The dinner is good, the hotel is fine, and nothing in the shape of the days says this is the one.

Families: Three generations, sometimes four. Different energies, different mobility, different ideas of what a holiday is for.

Journeys built around a date

Caribbean Honeymoon, Six Islands: Fourteen nights by the sea, from a private island in the Florida Keys through the Bahamas and the Leeward Islands to Dominica. 14 nights, United States, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands, Anguilla, Saint Barthélemy, Dominica.

Tahiti, Bora Bora and Tetiaroa: Bora Bora's lagoon, then the atoll Marlon Brando kept, by private plane. 11 nights, French Polynesia.
