Practical questions, answered directly

The questions clients tend to ask in the first few conversations, with the kind of straight answers I'd give in person.

How does the design fee work?

Three options at three commitment levels. Hotel bookings through the network portal are complimentary. Single journey design begins at £750 per booking, and pricing scales with complexity rather than per person. Annual Membership is £3,500 per household per year and covers up to three journeys. Full structure is on the Membership page.

How long does it take to design a trip?

Two to three weeks from formal brief to first proposal, for most journeys. Complex multi-country trips with peak-season availability constraints can run four to six weeks. Trips planned within sixty days of departure carry an expedited fee. The timeline doesn't reduce the work, it concentrates it.

Do you book flights?

Yes, where useful, particularly long-haul, business class, and complex multi-segment routings. A ticketing fee of £50 per traveller applies. Private aviation bookings carry no additional fee. Some households prefer to book flights independently through corporate travel desks or points programmes. Either route is fine.

Do you book cruises and yacht charters?

Yes. These are commission-based and usually fee-exempt. Yacht charter is handled through a small number of brokers the practice trusts.

How do payments work?

Standard structure is thirty per cent on proposal confirmation, balance due sixty days before departure. Bank transfer or card. International transfers can be handled where useful for non-UK clients. Specific terms vary by supplier and are flagged in each proposal.

What happens if something goes wrong during the trip?

You have my mobile number, my WhatsApp, and the direct numbers of named contacts at every property and operator. Most things that go wrong are resolved by a call from me to the right person. The time difference between London and most destinations is workable, and the relationships are the point. Travel insurance through a reputable provider is recommended on every trip and arranged separately.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancellation terms vary by supplier. Each property and operator has its own structure. The proposal you receive will detail the specific cancellation policy at each component. Travel insurance with cancellation cover is recommended, and we'll point you to a provider.

How private is the practice with my information?

Completely. Client information is held in encrypted systems, and nothing is shared with third parties beyond what's necessary to make the bookings. The practice never publishes named testimonials, photographs of clients, or specific trip details. When testimonials are published, attribution is initials and trip type only.

The full detail is on the privacy page.

How responsive will you be during the trip?

Highly. I keep WhatsApp on UK hours during business days, and answer messages within an hour during most waking hours of yours, including time-shifted destinations. For trip-critical issues, meaning flight cancellations, illness, anything that requires me to act, I'm available at any hour.

What kinds of trips don't you do?

Trips below £30,000 per household. The maths doesn't work for either party at lower budgets. Trips where the household is set on a destination or property the practice doesn't have the right relationships for, and we'll say so honestly. Trips that require corporate-volume booking, because the practice is small by design.

How do you handle tipping?

Most properties and operators include service in the rate or have transparent staff gratuity policies. Where tipping is expected separately, particularly with guides, drivers, and certain hotel staff in specific regions, we provide a guidance note in the pre-departure document, with local currency amounts and customs.

How do I refer someone to the practice?

Just send them the website, an email introduction with my contact details, or both. There's no formal referral programme, but introductions are gratefully received and the practice takes care of the people you trust enough to send. If a referral becomes a member, I'll write to thank you personally.

What if I want to travel somewhere you haven't covered?

Write anyway. The network extends globally, and most considered destinations are reachable through trusted partners. The first conversation establishes whether the destination is one we can serve well. If not, I'll often be able to introduce you to someone better placed.
